Data Deposition
CrossLink Studies (CLS) is committed to promoting transparency, reproducibility, and long-term accessibility of research outputs. Data deposition is a critical component of responsible scholarly communication, ensuring that datasets supporting published findings are preserved and made accessible to the research community.

Policy Statement
Authors publishing with CLS are expected to deposit all relevant research data in appropriate, publicly accessible repositories. Data should be made available at the time of publication or earlier, unless ethical, legal, or confidentiality constraints apply.
Scope of Data Deposition
Data deposition applies to, but is not limited to:
- Raw and processed datasets
- Experimental and observational data
- Computational models, algorithms, and scripts
- Survey instruments and questionnaires
- Supplementary materials supporting results and conclusions
Deposited data should be sufficient to allow replication, validation, and further exploration of the study.
Recommended Repositories
Authors should deposit data in recognized repositories that ensure persistent access and citation. Examples include:
- General repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare)
- Domain-specific repositories relevant to the research field
- Institutional repositories with long-term preservation policies
Where possible, datasets should be assigned a persistent identifier such as a DOI to facilitate citation and tracking.
Data Availability Statement
All submissions must include a Data Availability Statement specifying:
- The location of deposited data (repository name and link/DOI)
- Conditions of access (open, restricted, or embargoed)
- Justification for any restrictions, if applicable
This statement ensures clarity and accountability in data sharing practices.
Ethical and Legal Considerations
Authors must ensure that data deposition complies with:
- Ethical standards (e.g., protection of human subjects)
- Privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Institutional and funding agency policies
Sensitive or confidential data may be shared in anonymized form or made available upon reasonable request.
Data Quality and Documentation
Deposited datasets must be accompanied by adequate documentation, including:
- Metadata describing data structure and variables
- Methodological notes and data collection procedures
- File formats that are widely accessible and non-proprietary where possible
Proper documentation enhances usability and ensures that data can be correctly interpreted by other researchers.
Licensing and Reuse
Authors are encouraged to apply clear usage licenses (e.g., Creative Commons licenses) to their datasets. This facilitates lawful reuse while protecting authors’ rights and ensuring proper attribution.
Exceptions and Embargoes
In cases where immediate public deposition is not feasible (e.g., ongoing projects, proprietary data), authors may request an embargo period. Such requests must be justified and approved by the editorial office.
Compliance and Verification
CLS reserves the right to verify data deposition prior to publication. Manuscripts may be delayed or declined if data sharing requirements are not adequately met.
Commitment to Open Science
By enforcing robust data deposition practices, CLS supports global efforts toward open science, enabling collaboration, innovation, and the advancement of knowledge across disciplines.
